Week 34 Review

5/1/26

I will be telling you about the optical telegraph, cotton gin, Eli Whitney, and the hydraulic press that I learned about this week in history.

An optical telegraph is a line of satiations typically towers, for the purpose of conveying textual information by means of visual signals. There are two main types of such systems: the semaphore telegraph which uses pivoted indicator arms and conveys information according to the direction the indicators point, and the shutter telegraph which uses panels that can be rotated to block or pass the light from the sky.

The next thing that I learned about this week was the cotton gin. It quickly and easily separates cotton fibers from their seeds. Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin. He was was an American inventor who was born on December 8,1765 and died on January, 8 1825.

A hydraulic press is a machine press using a hydraulic cylinder to generate a compressive force.

My favorite invention from this week is the hydraulic press, because when you crush things with it, it looks super cool!

That is what I learned about this week in history!
