The Virginian had a hard time with Ballam’s evil doing. When Ballaam and the Virginian were traveling, Ballaam got mad at Pedro the mule, and he took his knife and cut Pedros neck. Ballaam meant to deeply cut the mules neck, but the Virginian hurled himself at Ballaam preventing the mule from being killed. He slammed Ballaam into the ground, punched him, slammed him again, and knocked him unconscious. Ballaam woke up soon after going unconscious and Pedro was still alive.
The Virginian doesn’t like killing animals unless eating the animal for food. I think the Virginian did the right thing stopping Ballaam from killing the mule because Ballaam was being mean and ridiculous since Pedro was a mule and not a horse. Ballaam did not like Pedro because as a mule he was short, dumb, slow, and not as strong as a horse. This is why the Virginian was justified in stopping Ballaam from killing the mule.
The Virginian likes mules and horses a lot because they carry stuff, carry us, and they go faster than us on foot. He also likes all animals, but he likes horses and mules the most out of all animals. The Virginian is a smart 17 year old boy, he likes adventures, he is not easily scared, and he is somebody who wants to make the world better.
That is my perspective of the Virginians response to Ballaam almost killing Pedro.
