I want to tell you about the inventions I learned about this week in history. I will be telling you about chess, arquebus, mainspring, and the printing press.
Before chess, people would have a piece of paper as the game board, and round pieces of cardboard for the game pieces. Since the game was made of paper, people would loose the pieces a lot. Once chess was made out of marble or wood, people didn’t loose them as much and chess was more convenient. The impact on history was that people could travel with their chess game board.
The arquebus was a rack that stored 8-10 guns. The arquebus made it so that guns were not in a messy pile and remained protected and organized. The impact on history was that guns were protected and not broken as much.
The mainspring in a watch made it so that you didn’t have to wind up a watch by hand to keep it working. The impact on history was that all you had to do was put a watch on. In addition, time was more accurate.
The printing press made it so that you could print more books a day. The impact on history was that more books could be printed at once, and more people had access to books and reading rather than just the rich.
My favorite topic I learned about this week was chess. I love chess! These are all the inventions I learned about this week in history.
My fav chapter books are Zoey and Sassafras and Diary of a Pug
