The Islamic scholar I learned about this week was Al-Kindi. He lived from 801 AD to 873 AD. He was 72 when he died. Al-Kindi was famous for identifying small pox and chicken pox.
Al-Kindi was able to understand and discover the difference between chicken pox and small pox. Chicken pox is red on the outside and brown in the middle. Small pox was brown on the outside and a little red in the middle.
The Arabs improved on Al-Kindi’s discovery by knowing what medicine to use for either chicken pox or small pox.
This is why Al-Kindi is remembered as a famous Islamic scholar.
My fav chapter books are Zoey and Sassafras and Diary of a Pug
